Di-?-chlorido-bis-[chlorido(1,4,6-trimethyl-6-nitro-1,4-diazepine)copper(II)].

ABSTRACT: The title neutral copper complex, [Cu(2)Cl(4)(C(8)H(17)N(3)O(2))(2)], shows a binuclear center with a Cu-(?-Cl)(2)-Cu core, in which each copper ion is coordinated by the N,N,O donor atoms of the tridentate ligand 1,4,6-trimethyl-6-nitro-1,4-diazepine (meaaz-NO(2)) and three chloride exogenous ligands. Each metal ion is facially coordinated by meaaz-NO(2) through N,N,O donor atoms, whereas two bridging and one terminal chloride ions occupy the other face of the highly Jahn-Teller-distorted octa-hedron. Two N atoms from tertiary amine groups of the meaaz-NO(2) ligand and two exogenous Cl atoms with short Cu-N and Cu-Cl distances define the equatorial plane. The coordination around each Cu(II) ion is completed by another Cl atom and an O atom from the NO(2) group, in the axial positions. The binuclear complex exhibits a centrosymmetric structure with point symmetry .

Project description:The title dinuclear copper complex, [Cu(2)(C(15)H(15)N(6)O)Cl(2)(CH(3)OH)(2)]ClO(4), was prepared by the reaction of copper(II) chloride with bis-[1-(2-pyrid-yl)ethyl-idene]carbonohydrazide in the presence of sodium perchlorate in a methanol solution. It features a mono-deprotonated bis-tridentate ligand, which coordinates to two independent Cu(II) ions, one of which is coordinated by pyridyl N, hydrazyl N and carbonyl O atoms. The second Cu(II) ion is coordinated by the pyridyl N and two hydrazyl N atoms from different hydrazyl groups. The coordination environments of both Cu(II) ions are completed by a chloride ion and a methanol mol-ecule. The dihedral angle between the pyridyl groups is 27.46?(10)°. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H?O(perchlorate), O-H?Cl and N-H?Cl hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The title copper(II) complex, {(C27H37N2)[Cu4(CH3COO)8Cl]·3CH2Cl2} n , is a one-dimensional coordination polymer. The asymmetric unit is composed of a copper(II) tetra-acetate paddle-wheel complex, a Cl(-) anion situated on a twofold rotation axis, half a 1,3-bis-(2,6-diisoprop-ylphenyl)imidazolium cation (the whole mol-ecule being generated by twofold rotation symmetry) and one and a half of a di-chloro-methane solvent mol-ecule (one being located about a twofold rotation axis). The central metal-organic framework comprises of a tetra-nuclear copper(II) acetate 'paddle-wheel' complex which arises from the dimerization of the copper(II) tetra-acetate core comprising of three ?2-bidentate acetate and one ?3-tridentate acetate ligands per binuclear paddle-wheel complex. Both Cu(II) atoms of the binuclear component adopt a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry (? = 0.04), with a Cu?Cu separation of 2.6016?(2)?Å. The apical coordination site of one Cu(II) atom is occupied by an O atom of a neighbouring acetate bridge [Cu-O = 2.200?(2)?Å], while that of the second Cu(II) atom is occupied by a bridging chloride ligand [Cu?Cl = 2.4364?(4)?Å]. The chloride bridge is slightly bent with respect to the Cu?Cu inter-nuclear axis [Cu-Cl-Cu = 167.06?(6)°] and the tetra-nuclear units are located about a twofold rotation axis, forming the one-dimensional polymer that propagates along [101]. Charge neutrality is maintained by the inclusion of the 1,3-bis-(2,6-diisoprop-ylphenyl)imidazolium cation within the crystal lattice. In the crystal, the cation and di-chloro-methane solvent mol-ecules are linked to the coordin-ation polymer by various C-H?O and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. There are no other significant inter-molecular inter-actions present.

Project description:The potential tridentate Schiff base ligand 2-[1-(2-pyridyl-methyl-imino)eth-yl]pyrrole (HL) was synthesized from the condensation of 2-acetyl-pyrrole with 2-amino-methyl-pyridine. The title compound, [Cu(C(12)H(12)N(3))Cl], was synthesized from HL and copper(II) chloride using triethyl-amine as a base to deprotonate the pyrrole NH group. The title compound is a monomer and the central copper(II) ion is bound to three N atoms of the deprotonated tridentate ligand and to one chloride ion in a square-planar N(3)Cl coordination.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric binuclear title compound, [Zn(2)Cl(4)(C(20)H(17)N(3))(2)], the coordination geometry of the Zn(II) ion can be described as a distorted ZnN(2)Cl(3) trigonal bipyramid (? = 0.89), arising from the N,N'-bidentate ligand, a terminal chloride ion and two bridging chloride ions. The N atoms occupy one axial and one equatorial site and the terminal chloride ion occupies an equatorial site. The dihedral angle between the pyridine and pyrazole rings is 12.8?(2)°. In the crystal, aromatic ?-? stacking [centroid-centroid separations = 3.812?(3) and 3.848?(3)?Å] and C-H?Cl and C-H?? inter-actions help to establish the packing.

Crystal structure of the [(1,3-dimesityl-1H-imidazol-3-ium-2-yl)methano-lato]copper(II) chloride dimer: insertion of formaldehyde into a copper-carbene bond.

Project description:The crystal structure of bis-[?-(1,3-dimesityl-1H-imidazol-3-ium-2-yl)methano-lato-?2O:O]bis-[di-chlorido-copper(II)], [Cu2Cl4(C22H26N2O)2], is reported. The complex is assumed to have formed via the insertion of formaldehyde into the copper-carbon bond in an N-heterocyclic carbene complex of copper(I) chloride. The structure of the binuclear mol-ecule possesses a crystallographic-ally centrosymmetric Cu2O2 central core with the O atoms bridging between the CuII atoms and thus Z' = 0.5. The copper centres are further ligated by two chloride ligands, resulting in the CuII atoms residing in a distorted square-planar environment. The Cu-O bond lengths are shorter than those previously reported in structures with the same central Cu2O2 motif. The complex displays C-H?Cl inter-actions involving the H atoms of the heterocycle backbone and the chloride ligands of a neighbouring mol-ecule.

Project description:The title tetra-nuclear complex, [Cu(4)Cl(6)O(C(13)H(11)N(3))(4)], features a tetra-hedral arrangement of copper(II) ions bonded to the central O atom (site symmetry [Formula: see text]). Each of the six edges of the Cu(4) tetra-hedron is bridged by a chloride ion (one of which has site symmetry 2), so that each copper ion is linked to the other three metal ions through the central O atom and through three separate chloride-ion bridges. The fifth coord-ination position, located on the central Cu-O axis on the outside of the cluster, is occupied by an N atom of the mono-dentate 1-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)-1H-benzimidazole ligand. The resulting coordination geometry of the metal ion is a distorted trigonal bipyramid with the O and N atoms in the axial positions. The dihedral angle between the benzimidazole ring system and the pendant pyridine ring is 61.0?(2)°.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(C(2)H(3)O(3))Cl(H(2)O)](n), the Cu(II) ion is five-coordinate in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. Two O atoms from a chelating glycolate anion, an O atom from a coordinated water mol-ecule and a chloride anion comprise the basal plane. A chloride ion from a neighbouring unit occupies the apical position and these Cu-Cl-Cu bridges link the aqua-glycolatocopper(II) units into one-dimensional chains along the [001] direction. The other Cu(II) ion has a similar coordination environment, except that the apical position is occupied by a chloride ligand instead of a water mol-ecule. An O-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen-bonded three-dimensional network is formed between the components.

The Cu(II) atom is coordin-ated by a chloride ion, two N atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, and a monodentate carboxyl-ate O atom from the pinononate anion, forming a CuN(2)ClO approximate square plane. A symmetry-generated pinononate O atom completes a square-based pyramidal geometry for the copper ion. The bridging 2-(3-acetyl-2,2-dimethyl-cyclo-but-yl)acetate anion leads to chains in the crystal propagating in [001]. Adjacent 1,10-phenanthroline rings form a dihedral angle of 39.4?(2)°.
