ABSTRACT: In the title complex, cis-[PdI(2)(C(6)H(16)N(2))], the Pd(II) atom lies on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis and is four-coordinated by the two N atoms of a chelating N,N,N',N'-tetra-methyl-ethylenediamine ligand [Pd-N = 2.125?(3)?Å] and two I atoms [Pd-I = 2.5833?(4)?Å], displaying a distorted square-planar geometry (r.m.s. deviation = 0.005?Å), imposed by the small bite of the chelating ligand [N-Pd-N angle = 84.68?(18)°].

The compound displays inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine rings of the ligand, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 4.220?(4)?Å.

Project description:The centrosymmetric dinuclear title compound, [Zn(2)Cl(4)(C(4)H(12)N(2))(2)], is isostructural with its previously reported Cu(II) analogue [Phelps, Goodman & Hodgson (1976 ?). Inorg. Chem.15, 2266-2270]. In the title compound, each of the Zn(II) ions is coordinated by two N atoms from a chelating N,N-dimethyl-ethylenediamine ligand, two bridging Cl atoms and one terminal Cl atom. The coordination environment is distorted square-pyramidal. The Zn-Cl bond distances of the two bridging Cl atoms are distinctly different: the equatorial Cl atom exbibits a Zn-Cl distance of 2.318?(1)?Å and the axial Cl atom exbibits a Zn-Cl distance of 2.747?(2)?Å, which is significantly longer. The mol-ecule can thus be seen as a dimer of two nearly square-planar monomeric units which are related to each other by an inversion center located in the middle of the dimer. Within one monomeric unit, the Zn atom, the two N atoms and the two Cl atoms are almost coplanar, with a mean deviation of only 0.05?(1)?Å from the associated least-squares plane. The Zn?Zn distance within the dimer is 3.472?(3)?Å. N-H?Cl and C-H?Cl hydrogen-bond inter-actions connect neighboring mol-ecules with each other.

Project description:The Hg(II) atom in the title complex, [HgI(2)(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(2))], is tetra-hedrally coordinated by the N atoms of the chelating 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione ligand and two I atoms. The range of tetra-hedral angles is broad, viz. 68.94?(17)° for the chelate angle to a wide 132.627?(15)° for the I-Hg-I angle. The ligand mol-ecule is non-planar with the O atoms lying 0.422?(5) and -0.325?(5)?Å out of the plane through the remaining atoms [r.m.s. deviation = 0.068?Å]. Mol-ecules are consolidated in the crystal packing by C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [PdCl(C9H12NSe)(C18H15P)], contains two independent mol-ecules. In both cases, the Pd(2+) cations are coordinated by the Se and N atoms of the chelating bidentate 2-[(di-methyl-amino)-meth-yl]benzene-seleno-late ligand. The chloride ligand lies trans to selenium and the tri-phenyl-phosphane ligand is trans to nitro-gen. The Pd-Se bond lengths in the two independent coordination environments of Pd are 2.3801?(4) and 2.3852?(4)?Å, the Pd-P bond lengths are 2.2562?(8) and 2.2471?(8)?Å, the Pd-N bond lengths are 2.172?(2) and 2.158?(2)?Å, and the Pd-Cl bond lengths are 2.3816?(8) and 2.3801?(8)?Å. The square-planar coordination around one Pd(2+) cation is less distorted than that around the other.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ge(C(9)H(11)O)(2)(C(6)H(16)N(2))], the Ge(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted trigonal-pyramidal geometry by two O atoms belonging to two 2,4,6-trimethyl-phenolate ligands and one N atom of a tetra-methyl-ethylenediamine ligand. Comparing the structure with published data of similar compounds shows that the Ge-O bonds are covalent and the Ge-N bond is coordinated.
