Project description:Transcriptome deep sequencing is a powerful tool for exploring the genetic architecture of complex traits. Gene expression patterns may explain a high degree of the observed phenotypic differences in histochemical and metabolic parameters related to meat quality among different muscles. Utilizing RNA Sequencing, this study characterized the whole transcriptome of nine lamb muscles: Semimembranosus (SM), Semitendinosus (ST), Gluteobiceps (GB), Gluteus medius (GM), Rectus femoris (RF), Supraspinatus (SS), Longissimus lumborum (LL), Adductor (AD) and Psoas major (PS).

A transcriptome atlas of human skeletal muscles

Project description:We generated a large transcriptome atlas of human skeletal muscles by collecting biopsies from 6 different muscles to determine molecular signatures that may be distinct between leg muscles. The biopsies were collected from gracilis (GR), semitendinosus (ST), vastus lateralis (VL), vastus medialis (VM), rectus femoris (RF), and gastrocnemius lateralis (GL) muscles. We also investigated molecular differences within the muscle by including two biopsies from the middle and distal sides of the semitendinosus muscle (STM and STD, respectively). In total, 128 samples from 20 individuals (aged 25 Ã‚Â± 3.6 yr) were analyzed.

Gene expression after knockdown of transcription factors in human iPSC-derived cardiac myocytes

Project description:We report gene expression changes after knockdown of transcription factors in human iPSC-derived cardiac myocytes. In prior experiments we showed that transcription factors known to be important for cardiac development were frequently up-regulated (i.e., "responsive") after small molecule perturbations of cultured iPSC-derived cardiac myocytes. We used RNA sequencing to test whether siRNA-mediated knockdown of transcription factors with different perturbation-responsiveness and tissue-specificity profiles would lead to inappropriate up-regulation of non-myocyte gene sets in cardiac myocytes.
