</name><description>Arenaviruses infection during pregnancy can cause severe maternal disease, congenital infection, and/or fetal demise. Little is known about the pathogenesis of this family of viruses in the placenta because many are endemic in resource-poor regions and must be studied in high containment laboratories. Pichinde virus (PICV) is a nonpathogenic arenavirus that causes hemorrhagic fever-like disease in guinea pigs. In this study, we sought to assess whether PICV replicates in human trophoblasts and how infection affected pregnant guinea pigs. Archived images are samples of infected placentas and fetal membranes that have been stained with a PICV-specific RNA scope assay targeting the viral NP transcript/antigenome.</description><dates><release>2026-09-19T00:00:00Z</release><modification>2026-09-19T14:56:51.488Z</modification><creation>2026-05-05T20:47:22.885Z</creation></dates><accession>S-BIAD3362</accession><cross_references/></HashMap>
