Chromosomal rearrangements involving ERG are found in acute myeloid leukemia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Ewing's sarcoma and more than half of all prostate cancers; however, the normal physiological function of Erg is unknown. We did a sensitized genetic screen of the mouse for regulators of hematopoietic stem cell function and report here a germline mutation of Erg. We show that Erg is required for definitive hematopoiesis, adult hematopoietic stem cell function and the maintenance of normal peripheral blood platelet numbers."],"study_type":["transcription profiling by array"],"species":["Mus musculus"],"pubmed_title":["The transcription factor Erg is essential for definitive hematopoiesis and the function of adult hematopoietic stem cells."],"pubmed_authors":["Carolyn de Graaf","Loughran SJ, Kruse EA, Hacking DF, de Graaf CA, Hyland CD, Willson TA, Henley KJ, Ellis S, Voss AK, Metcalf D, Hilton DJ,  Alexander WS, Kile BT"],"additional_accession":[]},"is_claimable":false,"name":"Transcription profiling of mouse wild type and Erg Mld2/+ hematopoietic stem cells","description":"Comparison of Gene Expression in Wild type to Erg Mld2/+ Lin-Sca1+Kit+ cells","dates":{"release":"2008-07-01T00:00:00Z","modification":"2022-03-14T19:08:11.799Z","creation":"2022-03-14T19:08:11.799Z"},"accession":"E-TABM-371","cross_references":{"pubmed":["18500345"],"EFO":["EFO_0002768"],"doi":["18500345"]}}
