Current photothermal agents generally show a broadband absorption accompanied by a gradual attenuation of absorption in the NIR-II window, leading to poor effect of PTT. It remains a great challenge to gain photothermal agents with strong and characteristic absorption in NIR-II regions. To overcome this problem, based on carbon dots (CDs)-mediated growth strategy, we proposed a simple and feasible approach to prepare plasmonic gold nanodendrites (AuNDs) with NIR-II absorption to enhance the therapeutic effect of PTT.
Results
By rationally regulating the size and branch length of AuN</pubmed_abstract><journal>Journal of nanobiotechnology</journal><pubmed_title>Carbon dots-mediated synthesis of gold nanodendrites with extended absorption into NIR-II window for in vivo photothermal therapy.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC10170720</pmcid><funding_grant_id>GJHZ20200731095208025</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>2022B1212010003</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>BX20220215</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>2023A1515012658</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>RCYX20221008092946108</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Yin Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Li H</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zha M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wang S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Mu J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wu R</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Li K</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Song J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Liu G</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Shi Y</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable>

Background
Photothermal therapy (PTT) in the second near-infrared (NIR-II) window has attracted extensive attention due to the benefits in high maximum permissible exposure and penetration depth.
