We present a framework that alleviates unfairness by minimizing the correlation disparity error associated with protected attributes. Our approach enables CCA to learn global projection matrices from all data points while ensuring that these matrices yield comparable correlation levels to group-specific projection matrices. Experimental evaluation on both synthetic and real-world datasets demonstrates the efficacy of our method in reducing correlation disparity error without compromising CCA accuracy.</pubmed_abstract><journal>Advances in neural information processing systems</journal><pubmed_title>Fair Canonical Correlation Analysis.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC11040228</pmcid><funding_grant_id>U01 CA274576</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>U01 AG066833</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>RF1 AG063481</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>P30 AG073105</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>U01 AG024904</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R01 LM011360</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R01 LM013463</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>U01 AG068057</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Tong B</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Shen L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Feng Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tarzanagh DA</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Hou B</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Long Q</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Xu J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhou Z</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>Fair Canonical Correlation Analysis.</name><description>This paper investigates fairness and bias in Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA), a widely used statistical technique for examining the relationship between two sets of variables.
