While genotyping microarrays and reference panels for imputation are available for human subjects, non-human model systems often lack such options. Our lab previously demonstrated an efficient and cost-effective method to genotype heterogeneous stock rats using double-digest genotyping-by-sequencing. However, low-coverage whole-genome sequencing offers an alternative method that has several advantages. Here, we describe a cost-effective, high-throughput, high-accuracy genotyping method for N/NIH heterogeneous stock rats that can use a combination of sequencing data previously generated by double-digest genotyping-by-sequencing and more recently generated by low-coverage whole-genome-</pubmed_abstract><journal>bioRxiv : the preprint server for biology</journal><pagination>2024.07.17.603984</pagination><full_dataset_link>https://www.ebi.ac.uk/biostudies/studies/S-EPMC11275765</full_dataset_link><repository>biostudies-literature</repository><pubmed_title>A Cost-effective, High-throughput, Highly Accurate Genotyping Method for Outbred Populations.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC11275765</pmcid><funding_grant_id>P50 DA037844</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>S10 OD026929</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Okamoto F</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Johnson BB</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Cohen K</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sanches TM</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Polesskaya O</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Ziegler KS</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Chen D</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Lin B</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Peng B</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Chitre AS</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Cheng R</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Palmer AA</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Nguyen KH</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>A Cost-effective, High-throughput, Highly Accurate Genotyping Method for Outbred Populations.</name><description>Affordable sequencing and genotyping methods are essential for large scale genome-wide association studies.
