The latter represent the first troglobitic species of the genus. Moreover, based on specimens from Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Magdalena (type locality), <i>Venezillobrevispinis</i> is placed into <i>Diploexochus</i> and an identification key for all species of the genus is given.
