Studies show that T6SSs have functions in bacterial virulence, inter- and intra-bacterial competition, and environmental adaptation. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, an opportunistic pathogen, harbors three T6SS gene clusters that perform diverse roles in clinical infection. Herein, using DNA affinity chromatography of the H1-T6SS promoter, the fluoroquinolone antibiotic resistance regulator NfxB was identified. Further studies demonstrated that NfxB negatively regulates the expression of H1-T6SS by directly binding to its promoter region. T6SS expression and effector secretion are regulated by the fluoroquinolone antibiotic via NfxB, which enhances inter-bacterial competitio</pubmed_abstract><journal>International journal of molecular sciences</journal><pubmed_title>Regulation of the H1 Type VI Secretion System by the Transcriptional Regulator NfxB in Pseudomonas aeruginosa.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC11855083</pmcid><funding_grant_id>32270195</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>2022JQ-184 and 2024JC-YBQN-0176</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Cao L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Liu L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Liu Q</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Liu S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Yan W</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhao Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Li M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wu Z</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Yang Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhang Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wang T</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tao R</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Gao T</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable>
Regulation of the H1 Type VI Secretion System by the Transcriptional Regulator NfxB in Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

The type VI secretion system (T6SS) is a widely distributed molecular apparatus found in most Gram-negative bacteria.
