Here, we investigated BM metabolism in response to acute overnutrition (high calorie diet; HCD) and calorie deprivation (fasting). Participants underwent a 10-day HCD followed by a two-week interval of an ad libitum diet and then underwent 10 days of fasting. BM adipocytes and sera were collected before and after each dietary intervention for each participant. Using comprehensive and integrated analyses, we characterized nutritional influences on BM adiposity. BM adipocytes after HCD showed an upregulation of &lt;i>FOXP3&lt;/i>, the transcription factor that con</pubmed_abstract><journal>Frontiers in endocrinology</journal><pubmed_title>Altered metabolomics and inflammatory transcriptomics in human bone marrow adipocytes after acute high calorie diet and acute fasting.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC12206641</pmcid><funding_grant_id>P20 GM103449</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>P20 GM121301</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>U19 AG060917</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>P30 DK040561</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R24 DK084970</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>U54 GM115516</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Pachon-Pena G</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Fazeli PK</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Dragon J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tighe S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Bredella MA</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Vary C</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Costa SN</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Rosen CJ</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>Altered metabolomics and inflammatory transcriptomics in human bone marrow adipocytes after acute high calorie diet and acute fasting.</name><description>Expansion of bone marrow (BM) adipocytes has been linked to nutritional pressures, suggesting that BM is a dynamic compartment that responds to fluctuations in systemic nutritional availability to regulate osteogenesis and hematopoiesis.
