Patients undergoing treatment for diabetes were excluded. Blood glucose measurements were taken using fingerstick, with screening positivity defined as fasting blood glucose levels of 100 mg/dL or more or non-fasting blood glucose levels of 140 mg/dL or more. Positive individuals were referred to internal medicine clinics. The background and dental results of the positive and negative screening groups were compared, and multivariate logistic regression was performe</pubmed_abstract><journal>Journal of diabetes investigation</journal><pagination>1742-1749</pagination><full_dataset_link>https://www.ebi.ac.uk/biostudies/studies/S-EPMC12400372</full_dataset_link><repository>biostudies-literature</repository><pubmed_title>Blood glucose screening in dental clinics as an opportunity for detection of diabetes and prediabetes: The Kyoutou Dental and Diabetes (KDD) Study.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC12400372</pmcid><pubmed_authors>Isoyama A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tsuchiya K</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Takagi T</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Nakamura H</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Ozawa A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Fujitani T</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Okubo E</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Mitsuzuka K</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tawata M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Saotome S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Mikami J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Aida K</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Harai N</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Itsumura K</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Yokomori N</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Shukuzawa E</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Ooka T</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Oka K</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Nakazato M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Akiyama S</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable>

<h4>Aims/introduction</h4>This study aimed to determine the prevalence and characteristics of positive blood glucose screening for diabetes or prediabetes among dental patients.<h4>Materials and methods</h4>This prospective cohort study recruited 749 dental patients aged 18 years and older from October 1, 2023 to August 9, 2024.
