The genome contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs, and 2 rRNAs. Phylogenetic analysis revealed a close relationship between &lt;i>S. yingjiangensis, S. polytaenia&lt;/i>, and &lt;i>S. longa&lt;/i>. This work helps clarify the evolution of the large, paraphyletic genus &lt;i>Schistura&lt;/i> and contributes to understanding the evolutionary dynamics of Cypriniformes.</pubmed_abstract><journal>Mitochondrial DNA.
