The patients were categorized into three groups based on the 40th and 70th percentiles of the Lp(a): ≤13.1, 13.1 to 29.2 and ≥ 29.2 mg/dL. The primary outcome was stroke recurrence within one year, with incident cases further classified as either ischemic or hemorrhagic. Cox proportional hazards regression and restricted cubic splines were used to evaluate these associations.
Results
A total of 331</pubmed_abstract><journal>Diabetology & metabolic syndrome</journal><pubmed_title>Lp(a) levels and ischemic stroke recurrence in type 2 diabetes mellitus.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC12659546</pmcid><funding_grant_id>82371294</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>2022YFC2502400</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>2022YFC2502403</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Zhang F</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Jin A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Feng Z</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Cheng A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Xue J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wang Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Meng X</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Xu J</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable>

Background
We investigated the association between lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] levels and stroke recurrence in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with recent acute ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA).
Methods
This study included 3,311 T2DM patients with recent acute ischemic stroke or TIA and complete Lp(a) data from the Third China National Stroke Registry.
