However, substantial challenges remain in defining optimal fortification levels of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (ω-3 PUFAs). Accumulating evidence suggests that ω-3 PUFA intake improves postoperative prognosis by modulating oncological parameters in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of ω-3 PUFA supplementation in enhancing postoperative safety and recovery stability following CRC surgery, to address critical gaps in nutritional interventions for optimizing clinical outcomes. These findings are expected to FSMP standard development, clinical nutrition protocols and product innovation. <b></pubmed_abstract><journal>Nutrients</journal><pubmed_title>The Role of Omega-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Supplementation in Postoperative Recovery of Colorectal Cancer: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC12787802</pmcid><funding_grant_id>No. 2023-KFKT-6</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>2022YFF110600/2022YFF1100601/2022YFF1100605</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Li H</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Liang D</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Fang H</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Qu P</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Deng T</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Guo J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wang Q</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Chen Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wang Z</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Xu Z</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Xu J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Yuan Y</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable>

<b>Background:</b> China is currently developing standards for Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP) targeting for oncology patients.
