We hypothesized that twin and cotwin echocardiographic factors would improve model performance for donor and recipient demise following laser photocoagulation therapy.
Methods
We performed a multicenter retrospective cohort study of stage 3 to 4 twin-twin transfusion syndrome referred for laser photocoagulation therapy. Fetal echocardiograms were analyzed at a core laboratory. We used multivariable logistic regression models to select variables used for generalized linear mixed-effects modeling. Separate models were developed for donor and recipient demise, using both twin and cotwin variables. Models were assessed by area under the receiver operating characteristic curves.<</pubmed_abstract><journal>Journal of the American Heart Association</journal><pagination>e045070</pagination><full_dataset_link>https://www.ebi.ac.uk/biostudies/studies/S-EPMC12909029</full_dataset_link><repository>biostudies-literature</repository><pubmed_title>Twin and Cotwin Predictors of Fetal Demise After Laser Photocoagulation Therapy in Advanced Stage Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome: A Fetal Heart Society Research Collaborative Study.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC12909029</pmcid><pubmed_authors>Divanovic A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Ghimire L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Howley L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Freud L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Chou FS</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Maskatia SA</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Annavajjhala V</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Yilmaz B</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Moon-Grady AJ</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable>

Background
Current models to predict outcomes in advanced twin-twin transfusion syndrome are limited.
