Single cell force spectroscopy (SCFS), an atomic force microscopy (AFM) experimental procedure based on the binding of an individual cell to an AFM cantilever and the assessment of the adhesion force between the cell and a target substrate, represents one of the most promising alternatives to characterize the interaction between cell and material. However, SCFS relies on the efficient binding of the cell to the AFM in order to avoid drawbacks, such as the detachment of the cell. In this work, three different versatile and robust procedures are presented that allow for the binding of either non-adherent (CD4+ T-lymphocytes) </pubmed_abstract><journal>Biomimetics (Basel, Switzerland)</journal><pubmed_title>Development of Three Alternative Strategies for the Binding of Cells to Functionalized DeepTipTM AFM Probes.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC12938487</pmcid><funding_grant_id>THOR (Grant Agreement number 101099719)</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>MINA-CM P2022-BMD-7236</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>TecNanoBio TEC-2024/TEC-158</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>ISOS (Grant Agreement number 101130454)</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>PID2023-152058OB-I00</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Colchero L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Fernandez-Santos ME</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Panetsos F</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Guinea GV</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Perez-Rigueiro J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Yuste Munoz L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tabraue-Rubio R</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Elices M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Vazquez M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Daza R</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable>

The efficient design of biohybrid materials requires controlling the interaction between the cell and the material for a wide range of possible combinations.
