The Cu(II) atom in the [Cu(en)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) cation (en is ethyl-enediamine) lies on an inversion centre. The four N atoms of the en ligands in the equatorial plane around the Cu(II) atom form a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement, while the slightly distorted Jahn-Teller octa-hedral coordination is completed by two water O atoms in axial positions. In the crystal structure, intra- and inter-molecular N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form a three-dimensional network.</pubmed_abstract><journal>Acta crystallographica.
