Although CaBP1 and caldendrin regulate effectors including plasma membrane and intracellular Ca(2+) channels in heterologous expression systems, little is known about their functions in vivo. Therefore, we generated mice deficient in CaBP1/caldendrin expression (C-KO) and analyzed the expression and cellular localization of CaBP1 and caldendrin in the mouse brain. Immunoperoxidase labeling with antibodies recognizing both CaBP1 and caldendrin was absent in the brain of C-KO mice, but was intense in multiple brain regions of wild-type mice. By Western blot, the antibodies detected two proteins that were absent in the C-KO mouse and consistent in size w</pubmed_abstract><journal>Neuroscience</journal><pubmed_title>Localization and expression of CaBP1/caldendrin in the mouse brain.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC4060604</pmcid><funding_grant_id>EY020850</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R01 NS084190</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>DC009433</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R55 DC009433</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R01 EY020850</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>NS084190</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R01 DC009433</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>P30 DC010362</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>P30 EY001730</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>DC010362</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Liu X</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Lee A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Haeseleer F</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Shepherd A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Kim KY</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Scholl ES</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>Localization and expression of CaBP1/caldendrin in the mouse brain.</name><description>Ca(2+) binding protein 1 (CaBP1) and caldendrin are alternatively spliced variants of a subfamily of CaBPs with high homology to calmodulin.
