A multi-stage stratified random sampling method was used to sample representative diabetes physicians and patients in 18 hospitals in Shaanxi province, China. A self-designed questionnaire was used. The questionnaire mainly consisted of 2 questions for physicians and 1 question for patients of which the participants were required to rank in priority of 3 (for physicians) and 2 (for patients) choices from a list of barriers. The strategies to improve diabetes control were only in the questionnaire for physicians.
Results
</pubmed_abstract><journal>BMC health services research</journal><pubmed_title>Differences between the perspectives of physicians and patients on the potential barriers to optimal diabetes control in China: a multicenter study.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC6292153</pmcid><funding_grant_id>Grant No. 2013KTZB03-02-01</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Jia A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Li H</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Lu X</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Shi S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Du Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Jia G</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhang M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wei Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wang J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhao Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wang L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Liu W</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Yang W</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Song M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Dong F</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Ji Q</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhao G</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Xu S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tong H</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Liu C</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Jiao Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Fang L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Ming J</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable>

Background
To investigate the potential barriers to optimal diabetes control by evaluating the different perspectives of physicians and patients on such matters in China.
Methods
This multi-center survey was conducted from December 2015 to March 2016.
