RESULTS:Daily post-operative decrease of AFP by 9% as compared to the preoperative level (A09) were selected as the Cut-off. The Kaplan-Meier curve showed that A09 was significantly different for OS (P=0.043) and RFS (P=0.03). A decrease in risk by 54% was observed for OS and 32% for RFS in the at-risk population (A09>9%). A better concordance was observed after adding A09 into TNM and BCLC staging systems. Moreover, a consistent concordance was observed in the internal (FDZS5:0.63; FDZS3:0.608) and external (FDZS5:0.85; FDZS3:0.762) validation cohorts, suggesting its prognostic value in HCC population with elevate</pubmed_abstract><journal>Aging</journal><pagination>11111-11123</pagination><full_dataset_link>https://www.ebi.ac.uk/biostudies/studies/S-EPMC6932889</full_dataset_link><repository>biostudies-literature</repository><pubmed_title>Daily decrease of post-operative alpha-fetoprotein by 9% discriminates prognosis of HCC: A multicenter retrospective study.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC6932889</pmcid><pubmed_authors>Qu WF</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Yang CP</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Yi Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhou YF</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Guan RY</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tian MX</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wang H</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Dai Z</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sun BY</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhou PY</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Fan J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhou C</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Peng YF</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Shi YH</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Jiang XF</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhou J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tang Z</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Huang JL</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Song SS</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Liu WR</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Qiu SJ</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Fang Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Gong GZ</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tao CY</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Ding ZB</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Gan W</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Liu G</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>Daily decrease of post-operative alpha-fetoprotein by 9% discriminates prognosis of HCC: A multicenter retrospective study.</name><description>BACKGROUND:Mixed evidence challenges preoperative alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) as an independent prognostic factor for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after hepatectomy.
