<HashMap><database>biostudies-literature</database><scores/><additional><omics_type>Unknown</omics_type><volume>7(4)</volume><submitter>De Francesco MA</submitter><pubmed_abstract>We report the first case, to our knowledge, in Italy, of a severe combined immunodeficiency patient with a persistent rotavirus infection due to a vaccine derived strain. Rotavirus was detected by enzyme immunoassays and RT-PCR in stool specimens for five months. The persistent infection was resolved after complete immune reconstitution achieved by hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
