Destabilizing the transient interaction between 14-3-3ζ and PTP1B prevented PTP1B inactivation by reactive oxygen species and decreased epidermal growth factor receptor phosphorylation. Our data suggest that destabilizing the interaction between 14-3-3ζ and the reversibly oxidized and inactive form of PTP1B may establish a path to PTP1B activation in cells.</pubmed_abstract><journal>Nature chemical biology</journal><pubmed_title>Regulation of PTP1B activation through disruption of redox-complex formation.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC6982540</pmcid><funding_grant_id>P30 CA045508</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>17GRNT33700265</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R15 HL138605</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R01 GM055989</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>HL138605</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R01 DK124907</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Londhe AD</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhang F</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Kannan A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Linhardt RJ</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tonks NK</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Bergeron A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Curley SM</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Rivera KD</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Pappin DJ</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Coulis G</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Rizvi SHM</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Kim SJ</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Boivin B</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>Regulation of PTP1B activation through disruption of redox-complex formation.</name><description>We have identified a molecular interaction between the reversibly oxidized form of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) and 14-3-3ζ that regulates PTP1B activity.
