We explore the association of HIV status with sexual function (SF) in women aged 45-60 using two national cross-sectional surveys: the third British National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles ("Natsal-3") and "PRIME", a survey of women living with HIV attending HIV clinics across England. Both studies asked the same questions about SF that take account not only sexual difficulties but also the relationship context and overall level of satisfaction, which collectively allowed an overall SF score to be derived. We undertook analyses of sexually-active women aged 45-60 from Natsal-3 (<i>N </i>= 1228, presumed HIV-negative given the low estimated prevalence of HIV in Britain) and PRIME (<i>N </i>= 386 women living </pubmed_abstract><journal>AIDS care</journal><pubmed_title>Association of HIV status with sexual function in women aged 45-60 in England: results from two national surveys.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC7034538</pmcid><funding_grant_id>SPHSU18</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>204841/Z/16/Z</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>NF-SI-0514-10075</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>209829/Z/17/Z</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>PDF-2014-07-071</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>MC_UU_12017/11</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>SPHSU11</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>G0701757</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>MC_UU_00022/3</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>084840</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Blell M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Allan S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Ustianowski A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sarner L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tariq A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Mercer CH</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Obeyesekera S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>McGregor-Read J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Fox J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Ross J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Gilleece Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Mitchell KR</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Mackie N</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Toorabally N</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>De Ruiter A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Reeves I</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tariq S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Gilson R</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sullivan A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Post F</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Burns F</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sabin CA</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Jones R</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Dhairyawan R</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Rosenvinge M</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable>

Increasing numbers of women living with HIV are reaching their midlife.
