The Oat-like rice displayed abnormal floral organs, an open hull formed by remarkably elongated leafy lemmas and paleae, occasionally formed conjugated twin brown rice, an aberrant grain shape and a low seed setting rate. By map-based cloning, we discovered that Oat-like rice harbors a novel allele of OsMADS1 gene (OsMADS1Olr), which has a spontaneous point mutation that causes the substitution of an amino acid that i</pubmed_abstract><journal>Rice (New York, N.Y.)</journal><pubmed_title>Characterization of the 'Oat-Like Rice' Caused by a Novel Allele OsMADS1Olr Reveals Vital Importance of OsMADS1 in Regulating Grain Shape in Oryza sativa L.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC7561663</pmcid><funding_grant_id>2017HH0025</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>17ZR0251</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>31501379</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>Y5C4201</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>151751KYSB20180006</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>2017YFD0100201</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>Y4ZK111B01</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>XDA24020304</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Li H</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Gu Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Li P</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Yue L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sun X</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhuang Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Luo D</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wei M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Liu Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Lu L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Liu Z</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tu S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Huang W</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wang S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tang Y</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable>
Characterization of the 'Oat-Like Rice' Caused by a Novel Allele OsMADS1Olr Reveals Vital Importance of OsMADS1 in Regulating Grain Shape in Oryza sativa L.

<h4>Background</h4>Grain shape is a critical agronomic trait affecting grain yield and quality.
