At the same time, TNBC shows good responses to chemotherapy, a feature that fuels the search for novel compounds with therapeutic potential in this area. Recently, we have identified novel urea-based compounds with cytotoxicity against selected cell lines and with the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier in vivo. We have synthesized and analyzed a library of more than 40 compounds to elucidate the key features responsible for the observed activity. We have also identified FGFR1 as a molecular target that is affected by the presence of these compounds, confirming our data us</pubmed_abstract><journal>European journal of medicinal chemistry</journal><pubmed_title>Design, synthesis and structure-activity relationship study of novel urea compounds as FGFR1 inhibitors to treat metastatic triple-negative breast cancer.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC7744370</pmcid><funding_grant_id>RSG-15-009-01-CDD</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R01CA214019</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>1R15CA231339-0</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>CPRIT RP170003</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>HHSN-271-2013-00017-C</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R01 CA226436</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R01 CA186662</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R15 CA231339</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>R01 CA214019</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Shahi S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Farshbaf MJ</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sajib MS</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Putnam W</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Mikelis CM</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Ashraf-Uz-Zaman M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>German NA</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhang R</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Kallem RR</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Akwii R</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Trippier PC</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Alvina K</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wang W</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>Design, synthesis and structure-activity relationship study of novel urea compounds as FGFR1 inhibitors to treat metastatic triple-negative breast cancer.</name><description>Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive type of cancer characterized by higher metastatic and reoccurrence rates, where approximately one-third of TNBC patients suffer from the metastasis in the brain.
