The design of the micro-dose calibrator is based on the concept of a segmented well counter. By segmenting a single crystal well counter into multiple crystals or segments, with each segment operated and read out independently, one can extend the operational range of a standard single crystal well counter while maintaining its accuracy and spectrographic capabilities.
