In our previous study, we found that a classic traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula Ze-Qi-Tang (ZQT), which has been used in the treatment of respiratory diseases for thousands of years, could directly inhibit the growth of human NSCLC cells via the p53 signaling pathway. In this study, we explored the immunomodulatory functions of ZQT. We found that ZQT significantly prolonged the survival of orthotopic lung cancer model mice by modulating the tumor microenvironment (TME). ZQT remarkably reduced the number of MDSCs (especially G-MDSCs) and inhibited their immunosuppressive activity by inducing apoptosis in these cells via the STAT3/S100A9/Bcl-2/caspase-3 signalin</pubmed_abstract><journal>Mediators of inflammation</journal><pubmed_title>Ze-Qi-Tang Formula Induces Granulocytic Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cell Apoptosis via STAT3/S100A9/Bcl-2/Caspase-3 Signaling to Prolong the Survival of Mice with Orthotopic Lung Cancer.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC8035014</pmcid><funding_grant_id>ZY (2018-2020)-CCCX-2001-01</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>18YF1423500</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>20ZR1458500</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>81802357</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>18YF1415100</funding_grant_id><funding_grant_id>81804017</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Zhang F</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhu XD</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wei LY</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Su L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Jiao XN</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zou CP</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wang J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhu SG</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Hou YF</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Gong CY</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tang XY</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhu YZ</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Yao C</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Chen X</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wang WT</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Xu ZH</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>Ze-Qi-Tang Formula Induces Granulocytic Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cell Apoptosis via STAT3/S100A9/Bcl-2/Caspase-3 Signaling to Prolong the Survival of Mice with Orthotopic Lung Cancer.</name><description>Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains the most common malignancy with the highest morbidity and mortality worldwide.
