Photoinactivation of CvFAP still represents one of the major limitations of this interesting enzyme en route to practical application. In this study we demonstrate that the photostability of CvFAP can easily be improved by the administration of medium-chain length carboxylic acids such as caprylic acid indicating that the best way of maintaining CvFAP stability is 'to keep the enzyme busy'.</pubmed_abstract><journal>Chembiochem : a European journal of chemical biology</journal><pubmed_title>Stabilisation of the Fatty Acid Decarboxylase from Chlorella variabilis by Caprylic Acid.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC8362199</pmcid><funding_grant_id>966788</funding_grant_id><pubmed_authors>Paul CE</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wu Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Hollmann F</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>Stabilisation of the Fatty Acid Decarboxylase from Chlorella variabilis by Caprylic Acid.</name><description>The fatty acid photodecarboxylase from Chlorella variabilis NC64 A (CvFAP) catalyses the light-dependent decarboxylation of fatty acids.
