The purpose of the study was to investigate the acute and sub-acute toxicity of 5-methylcoumarin-4β-glucoside, a promising chemotherapeutic agent against colon cancer isolated from the leaves of &lt;i>Vernonia glaberrima&lt;/i>. 5-methylcoumarin-4β-glucoside was isolated from the methanol leaf extract of &lt;i>Vernonia glaberrima&lt;/i> following a previously described method.
