There is a large clinical and also genetic heterogeneity in BBS. Here, we report a patient with polydactyly, hyperechogenic kidneys increased in size with normal corticomedullary differentiation, anal imperforation, and malformation of genitals with presence of a genital tubercle with ventral urethral meatus associated with two unfused lateral genital swelling and absent urethral folds, in the context of 46, XY karyotype.
Methods
Karyotype and solo exome sequencing were performed to look for a genetic etiolog</pubmed_abstract><journal>Molecular genetics & genomic medicine</journal><pagination>e1869</pagination><full_dataset_link>https://www.ebi.ac.uk/biostudies/studies/S-EPMC9034675</full_dataset_link><repository>biostudies-literature</repository><pubmed_title>Atypical phenotype of a patient with Bardet-Biedl syndrome type 4.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC9034675</pmcid><pubmed_authors>Lambert L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Lemelle JL</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Gomola V</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Bruel AL</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sloboda N</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Klein O</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Bonnet C</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Ciorna V</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Philippe C</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tran Mau-Them F</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Camoin-Schweitzer MC</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Ezsto ML</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Legagneur C</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Magnavacca M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Leheup B</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable>

Background
Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS) is a multisystemic disorder characterized by rod-cone dystrophy, truncal obesity, postaxial polydactyly, cognitive impairment, male hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, complex female genitourinary malformations, and renal abnormalities.
