We assessed the efficacy and safety of ramucirumab plus irinotecan combination therapy as second-line treatment in patients with previously treated advanced gastric cancer.
Materials and methods
Patients with advanced gastric cancer refractory or intolerant to primary chemotherapy were included. Ramucirumab 8 mg/kg plus irinotecan 150 mg/m2 combination therapy was administered every 2 weeks. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival rate at 6 months and secondary endpoints were overall survival, progression-free survival, response rate, safety, and dose intensity for each drug.
Result</pubmed_abstract><journal>The oncologist</journal><pagination>e642-e649</pagination><full_dataset_link>https://www.ebi.ac.uk/biostudies/studies/S-EPMC9355819</full_dataset_link><repository>biostudies-literature</repository><pubmed_title>Phase II Study of Ramucirumab Plus Irinotecan Combination Therapy as Second-Line Treatment in Patients with Advanced Gastric Cancer: HGCSG1603.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC9355819</pmcid><pubmed_authors>Dazai M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Nakamura M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Komatsu Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sato A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Tsuji Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Okada K</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sakamoto N</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sakata Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Shindo Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Meguro T</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Yuki S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Harada K</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sogabe S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sekiguchi M</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sawada K</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Ishiguro A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Ito YM</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Kawamoto Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Okuda H</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Muto O</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable>

Background
Ramucirumab is a human IgG1 monoclonal vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 antibody that inhibits tumor cell growth and affects the tumor cell microenvironment.
