There is 1 reported case of ALTR from a ceramic-on-ceramic (CoC) bearing and none that resulted in nerve compression. In this case, a 71-year-old man presented with an ALTR after a CoC THA that resulted in femoral nerve compression. An anterior approach was utilized to revise his THA, which resulted in nerve decompression and near-resolution of his preoperative symptoms. We conclude that CoC bearings may not be completely inert and can result in ALTRs and nerve compression.</pubmed_abstract><journal>Arthroplasty today</journal><full_dataset_link>https://www.ebi.ac.uk/biostudies/studies/S-EPMC9713287</full_dataset_link><repository>biostudies-literature</repository><pubmed_title>Femoral Nerve Compression due to Adverse Local Tissue Reaction After Ceramic-on-ceramic Total Hip Arthroplasty</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC9713287</pmcid><pubmed_authors>Cannon D</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Rodriguez H</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Naqvi A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Mekkawy K</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Gosthe R</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>Femoral Nerve Compression due to Adverse Local Tissue Reaction After Ceramic-on-ceramic Total Hip Arthroplasty</name><description>The use of metal bearings in total hip arthroplasty (THA) has been linked with adverse local tissue reactions (ALTRs).
