Recent taxonomical developments resulted in the identification of more species in &lt;i>Bacillus&lt;/i>-related genera, particularly in the order &lt;i>Bacillales&lt;/i> (earlier heterotypic synonym: &lt;i>Caryophanales&lt;/i>), with potential application for biotechnological and industrial purposes such as biofuels, bioactive agents, biopolymers, and enzymes.
