However, it remains elusive how H3K9me3 is remodeled and its association with totipotency. Here, we integrated transcriptome and H3K9me3 profiles to conduct a detailed comparison of 2C embryos and 2C-like cells. Globally, H3K9me3 is highly preserved and H3K9me3 dynamics within the gene locus is not associated with gene expression change during 2C-like transition. Promoter-deposited H3K9me3 plays non-repressive roles in the activation of genes during 2C-like transition. In contrast, transposable elements, residing in the nearby regions of up-regulated genes, undergo extensive elimination of H3K9me3 and are tended to be induced in 2C-like transition</pubmed_abstract><journal>Stem cell reports</journal><pagination>449-462</pagination><full_dataset_link>https://www.ebi.ac.uk/biostudies/studies/S-EPMC9968986</full_dataset_link><repository>biostudies-literature</repository><pubmed_title>Remodeling of H3K9me3 during the pluripotent to totipotent-like state transition.</pubmed_title><pmcid>PMC9968986</pmcid><pubmed_authors>Li H</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Shen L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wu L</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Dong Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Liang Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zuo Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Xiao Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Abudureheman A</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Lin Z</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Wang H</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Le R</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Li Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Huang Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhang Y</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Su Z</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Zhang C</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Xi C</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Sun J</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Kong X</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Gao S</pubmed_authors><pubmed_authors>Yin J</pubmed_authors></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>Remodeling of H3K9me3 during the pluripotent to totipotent-like state transition.</name><description>Multiple chromatin modifiers associated with H3K9me3 play important roles in the transition from embryonic stem cells to 2-cell (2C)-like cells.
