We performed population structure analyses of the ADP populations and divided these populations into four major groups based on their genographic information. By applying a highly sensitive algorithm haploPS to locate genomic signatures of positive selection, 140 distinct genomic regions exhibiting evidence of positive selection in at least one population were identified. We examined the extent of signal sharing for regions that were selected in multiple populations and observed that populations clustered in a similar fashion to that of how the ancestry clades were phylogenetically defined. In particular, populations predominantly located in South Asia underwent considerably different adaptation as compared with populations from the other geographical regions. Signatures of positive selection present in multiple geographical regions were predicted to be older and have emerged prior to the separation of the populations in the different regions. In contrast, selection signals present in a single population group tended to be of lower frequencies and thus can be attributed to recent evolutionary events.</pubmed_abstract><pubmed_title>Characterising private and shared signatures of positive selection in 37 Asian populations.</pubmed_title><pubmed_authors>Liu Xuanyao X, Lu Dongsheng D, Saw Woei-Yuh WY, Shaw Philip J PJ, Wangkumhang Pongsakorn P, Ngamphiw Chumpol C, Fucharoen Suthat S, Lert-Itthiporn Worachart W, Chin-Inmanu Kwanrutai K, Chau Tran Nguyen Bich TN, Anders Katie K, Kasturiratne Anuradhani A, de Silva H Janaka HJ, Katsuya Tomohiro T, Kimura Ryosuke R, Nabika Toru T, Ohkubo Takayoshi T, Tabara Yasuharu Y, Takeuchi Fumihiko F, Yamamoto Ken K, Yokota Mitsuhiro M, Mamatyusupu Dolikun D, Yang Wenjun W, Chung Yeun-Jun YJ, Jin Li L, Hoh Boon-Peng BP, Wickremasinghe Ananda R AR, Ong RickTwee-Hee RH, Khor Chiea-Chuen CC, Dunstan Sarah J SJ, Simmons Cameron C, Tongsima Sissades S, Suriyaphol Prapat P, Kato Norihiro N, Xu Shuhua S, Teo Yik-Ying YY</pubmed_authors><pubmed_title_synonyms>Chinese American, American, Hmong American, Vietnamese American, Hmong, selection process, Asian, Asian American, Filipino, Korean American, Cambodian American, Japanese American., Korean Americans, Chinese Americans, Asians, Asian unspecified, Japanese Americans, Cambodian Americans, Cambodian, Americans, Filipino American, Korean, Japanese, Asian Indian American, Vietnamese Americans, Filipino Americans, Vietnamese, Chinese, Hmong Americans, Asian Indian Americans, Indian American, Asian Americans</pubmed_title_synonyms><pubmed_abstract_synonyms>Genetic Variations, extent, Hmong American, DCAF9, Variations, subdivided, Hmong, conformation, completeness, Diphosphate, Asian, ADP, selection process, Magnesium ADP, CG5124, Diversities, Korean American, Gm695, clefted, Magnesium, Korean Americans, predicted, Asian unspecified, DmelCG5124, Cambodian Americans, School-Age, Americans, Filipino American, sensitive, adp, School Age, Japanese, Algorithm, Genetic Diversities, Asian Indian American, Vietnamese Americans, Filipino Americans, Genetic Selection, Adenosine 5'-Pyrophosphate, anon-WO0196371.27, selection process., Pyrophosphate, anon-WO0196371.1, Indian American, Asian Americans, anon-WO0196371.3, Adenosine Pyrophosphate, sensitivity, Japanese American, forked, Chinese American, study, School-Age Populations, Populations, American, Selection, Diversity, divided, Vietnamese American, Genetic, distinct, Adenosine 5'-(trihydrogen diphosphate), Natural, Asian American, Adenosine 5' Pyrophosphate, 5'-Pyrophosphate, Filipino, Cambodian American, clumped, Genetic Diversity, Natural Selection, Population, septate, School Age Populations, Chinese Americans, Asians, Japanese Americans, allergic reaction, Adenosine, Cambodian, clustered, Korean, adipose, School-Age Population, School Age Population, Vietnamese, Chinese, Hmong Americans, Asian Indian Americans, Variation, MgADP</pubmed_abstract_synonyms></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>Participating PI's in the Asia Diversity Project</name><description>Data Access Committee EGAC00001000565</description><dates><output>2025-1-9</output></dates><accession>EGAC00001000565</accession><cross_references><TAXONOMY>9606</TAXONOMY><pubmed>28098149</pubmed><EGA>EGAS00001002100</EGA><EGA>EGAD00010001491</EGA></cross_references></HashMap>
