Here, we sought to determine whether this phenotype extended to another psychostimulant, methamphetamine. Surprisingly, relative to saline-sired rats, male, but not female, methamphetamine-sired offspring demonstrated increased susceptibility to methamphetamine taking. Single nuclei RNA- and ATAC-sequencing of the nucleus accumbens was used to identify molecular drivers of phenotypes in cocaine- and methamphetamine-sired offspring. Sequencing results revealed unique profiles of gene expression and open chromatin in offspring nucleus accumbens. Differential gene expression in cocaine-resistant, cocaine-sired offspring and methamphetamine-susceptible, methamphetamine-sired offspring illuminates potential novel treatment targets for psychostimulant use disorders.</description><dates><publication>2026/08/12</publication></dates><accession>GSE296372</accession><cross_references><GSM>GSM8969354</GSM><GSM>GSM8969353</GSM><GSM>GSM8969356</GSM><GSM>GSM8969355</GSM><GSM>GSM8969350</GSM><GSM>GSM8969352</GSM><GSM>GSM8969351</GSM><GSM>GSM8969347</GSM><GSM>GSM8969358</GSM><GSM>GSM8969357</GSM><GSM>GSM8969349</GSM><GSM>GSM8969348</GSM><GPL>25947</GPL><GSE>296372</GSE><taxon>Rattus norvegicus</taxon></cross_references></HashMap>
