In SS rats, HS intake upregulated glutaminase and increased glutamate consumption, reflecting a shift toward glutamine-driven metabolism, inefficient oxygen utilization, and elevated ROS. In contrast, SSNOX4⁻/⁻ rats exhibited intrinsically higher NO production and favored fatty acid oxidation (FAO), promoting more efficient oxygen. Notably, renal lactate release was observed exclusively in SSNOX4⁻/⁻ rats following HS intake, despite no glycolytic gene upregulation, suggesting increased lactate production due to a substrate shift, possibly toward enhanced FAO. Furthermore, SSNOX4⁻/⁻ rats did not exhibit the salt-induced augmentation of amino acid metabolism seen in SS rats, indicating a protein-sparing metabolic adaptation. Together, these findings reveal a distinct metabolic reprogramming in SSNOX4⁻/⁻ rats that enhances energy efficiency and contributes to renal protection under HS conditions.","dates":{"publication":"2026/05/07"},"accession":"GSE298727","cross_references":{"GSM":["GSM9021638","GSM9021639","GSM9021678","GSM9021634","GSM9021635","GSM9021679","GSM9021636","GSM9021637","GSM9021641","GSM9021685","GSM9021642","GSM9021686","GSM9021687","GSM9021643","GSM9021644","GSM9021688","GSM9021681","GSM9021682","GSM9021683","GSM9021684","GSM9021640","GSM9021680","GSM9021649","GSM9021645","GSM9021689","GSM9021646","GSM9021647","GSM9021648","GSM9021652","GSM9021653","GSM9021654","GSM9021655","GSM9021650","GSM9021651","GSM9021690","GSM9021691","GSM9021656","GSM9021657","GSM9021658","GSM9021659","GSM9021663","GSM9021664","GSM9021665","GSM9021666","GSM9021660","GSM9021661","GSM9021662","GSM9021667","GSM9021668","GSM9021669","GSM9021674","GSM9021675","GSM9021632","GSM9021676","GSM9021633","GSM9021677","GSM9021670","GSM9021671","GSM9021672","GSM9021673"],"GPL":["25947"],"GSE":["298727"],"taxon":["Rattus norvegicus"],"PMID":["[41368709]"]}}
