Mitochondrial mass and function were assessed under basal culture conditions and following short-term exposure to exogenous palmitate. Outcomes included gene expression, mitochondrial oxygen consumption, ROS production and cellular energy status. iPSC-Heps from MASLD patients exhibited mitochondrial alterations characteristic of their diseased origin. The degree of mitochondrial dysfunction seen in MASLD iPSC-Heps was reminiscent of that described clinically in early MASLD, prior to progression to steatohepatitis. Mitochondrial alterations in MASLD iPSC-Heps occurred independently of PNPLA3 genotype.</description><dates><publication>2026/08/25</publication></dates><accession>GSE306392</accession><cross_references><GSM>GSM9198749</GSM><GSM>GSM9198759</GSM><GSM>GSM9198758</GSM><GSM>GSM9198769</GSM><GSM>GSM9198768</GSM><GSM>GSM9198757</GSM><GSM>GSM9198767</GSM><GSM>GSM9198755</GSM><GSM>GSM9198766</GSM><GSM>GSM9198754</GSM><GSM>GSM9198753</GSM><GSM>GSM9198764</GSM><GSM>GSM9198763</GSM><GSM>GSM9198752</GSM><GSM>GSM9198762</GSM><GSM>GSM9198751</GSM><GSM>GSM9198750</GSM><GSM>GSM9198761</GSM><GSM>GSM9198760</GSM><GSM>GSM9198770</GSM><GPL>21290</GPL><GSE>306392</GSE><taxon>Homo sapiens</taxon></cross_references></HashMap>
