Increasing viscosity of media to physiological levels present in lower intestinal mucus has been observed to increase growth and swimming velocity of WT C. jejuni. Two mutants (DflgV) and (DvidC; DCjj81176_1732) that lack components of the C. jejuni flagellar motor were identified that do not properly modulate swimming velocity in a viscosity-dependent manner. These mutants also have growth and viability defects when grown in standing broth cultures composed of Mueller-Hinton broth at low viscosity (1 cP; no methycellulose) or higher viscosity (40 cP; with methylcellulse). The transcriptome of WT C. jejuni and two mutants lacking FlgV or VidC were analyzed and compared after growth in standing Mueller-Hinton broth cultures of 1 or 40 cP.</description><dates><publication>2026/05/22</publication></dates><accession>GSE313853</accession><cross_references><GSM>GSM9376591</GSM><GSM>GSM9376580</GSM><GSM>GSM9376590</GSM><GSM>GSM9376595</GSM><GSM>GSM9376584</GSM><GSM>GSM9376594</GSM><GSM>GSM9376583</GSM><GSM>GSM9376593</GSM><GSM>GSM9376582</GSM><GSM>GSM9376581</GSM><GSM>GSM9376592</GSM><GSM>GSM9376588</GSM><GSM>GSM9376587</GSM><GSM>GSM9376586</GSM><GSM>GSM9376585</GSM><GSM>GSM9376579</GSM><GSM>GSM9376578</GSM><GSM>GSM9376589</GSM><GPL>36425</GPL><GSE>313853</GSE><taxon>Campylobacter jejuni</taxon></cross_references></HashMap>
