We exposed very young rats to a 20-day FI intervention or ad-lib (AL) feeding, using either standard chow (SC) or high fat/high sucrose (HF/HS) diets, followed by continued AL feeding on the respective diets for 10-13 weeks. We found that male, but not female rats subjected to FI on the HF/HS diet had increased body fat percentage, ratio of adipose to body weight, and fat cell size compared to AL rats, coupled with metabolomic and transcriptomic profiles consistent with reduced fatty acid oxidation in the liver and maladaptive remodeling of adipose tissue. These changes were specific to HF/HS feeding and did not occur with SC diet. Our study defines sex- and diet-specific metabolic remodeling responses to FI that may contribute to future disease phenotypes.</description><dates><publication>2026/09/30</publication></dates><accession>GSE319276</accession><cross_references><GSM>GSM9514733</GSM><GSM>GSM9514722</GSM><GSM>GSM9514744</GSM><GSM>GSM9514721</GSM><GSM>GSM9514743</GSM><GSM>GSM9514732</GSM><GSM>GSM9514742</GSM><GSM>GSM9514731</GSM><GSM>GSM9514741</GSM><GSM>GSM9514730</GSM><GSM>GSM9514740</GSM><GSM>GSM9514729</GSM><GSM>GSM9514739</GSM><GSM>GSM9514728</GSM><GSM>GSM9514738</GSM><GSM>GSM9514727</GSM><GSM>GSM9514726</GSM><GSM>GSM9514737</GSM><GSM>GSM9514736</GSM><GSM>GSM9514725</GSM><GSM>GSM9514724</GSM><GSM>GSM9514735</GSM><GSM>GSM9514723</GSM><GSM>GSM9514734</GSM><GPL>25947</GPL><GSE>319276</GSE><taxon>Rattus norvegicus</taxon></cross_references></HashMap>
