Serum was prepared by clotting and centrifugation and stored at −80 °C. Extracellular vesicles were enriched from filtered serum using the exoEasy Maxi kit, and total RNA was extracted using the miRNeasy Serum/Plasma kit. Small RNA libraries were prepared using the Lexogen Small RNA-Seq Library Prep Kit with reduced adapter concentrations and 22 PCR cycles due to low RNA input. Library quality and concentration were assessed using Qubit and Bioanalyzer assays. Sequencing was performed on an Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform using single-end 100-bp reads.
