Little is known about the pathogenesis of this family of viruses in the placenta because many are endemic in resource-poor regions and must be studied in high containment laboratories. Pichinde virus (PICV) is a nonpathogenic arenavirus that causes hemorrhagic fever-like disease in guinea pigs. In this study, we sought to assess whether PICV replicates in human trophoblasts and how infection affected pregnant guinea pigs. RNA-sequencing was done on PICV-infected human trophoblast stem cells and samples of placenta and decidua collected from infected and control pregnant guinea pigs.","dates":{"publication":"2026/09/19"},"accession":"GSE329765","cross_references":{"GSM":["GSM9710829","GSM9710828","GSM9710838","GSM9710837","GSM9710836","GSM9710835","GSM9710834","GSM9710833","GSM9710832","GSM9710831","GSM9710830","GSM9710819","GSM9710818","GSM9710839","GSM9710817","GSM9710827","GSM9710826","GSM9710848","GSM9710847","GSM9710825","GSM9710846","GSM9710824","GSM9710845","GSM9710823","GSM9710844","GSM9710822","GSM9710821","GSM9710843","GSM9710842","GSM9710820","GSM9710841","GSM9710840"],"GPL":["28437","24676"],"GSE":["329765"],"taxon":[" Homo sapiens","Cavia porcellus"]}}
