Little is known about the pathogenesis of this family of viruses in the placenta because many are endemic in resource-poor regions and must be studied in high containment laboratories. Pichinde virus (PICV) is a nonpathogenic arenavirus that causes hemorrhagic fever-like disease in guinea pigs. In this study, we sought to assess whether PICV replicates in human trophoblasts and how infection affected pregnant guinea pigs. RNA-sequencing was done on PICV-infected human trophoblast stem cells and samples of placenta and decidua collected from infected and control pregnant guinea pigs.</description><dates><publication>2026/09/19</publication></dates><accession>GSE329765</accession><cross_references><GSM>GSM9710829</GSM><GSM>GSM9710828</GSM><GSM>GSM9710838</GSM><GSM>GSM9710837</GSM><GSM>GSM9710836</GSM><GSM>GSM9710835</GSM><GSM>GSM9710834</GSM><GSM>GSM9710833</GSM><GSM>GSM9710832</GSM><GSM>GSM9710831</GSM><GSM>GSM9710830</GSM><GSM>GSM9710819</GSM><GSM>GSM9710818</GSM><GSM>GSM9710839</GSM><GSM>GSM9710817</GSM><GSM>GSM9710827</GSM><GSM>GSM9710826</GSM><GSM>GSM9710848</GSM><GSM>GSM9710847</GSM><GSM>GSM9710825</GSM><GSM>GSM9710846</GSM><GSM>GSM9710824</GSM><GSM>GSM9710845</GSM><GSM>GSM9710823</GSM><GSM>GSM9710844</GSM><GSM>GSM9710822</GSM><GSM>GSM9710821</GSM><GSM>GSM9710843</GSM><GSM>GSM9710842</GSM><GSM>GSM9710820</GSM><GSM>GSM9710841</GSM><GSM>GSM9710840</GSM><GPL>28437</GPL><GPL>24676</GPL><GSE>329765</GSE><taxon> Cavia porcellus</taxon><taxon>Homo sapiens</taxon></cross_references></HashMap>
