In addition to inhibiting cholesterol synthesis, statins reduce the production of geranylgeranyl isoprenoids, which regulate the activity of small GTPases such as Rap1a. To identify hepatic genes and pathways regulated by geranylgeranyl isoprenoids, we performed RNA sequencing of liver samples from mice treated with vehicle, statin, geranylgeraniol (GGOH), or statin plus GGOH.
