Congenic strains, where trait-associated genetic loci are introduced into “healthy backgrounds, identify causal mediators relevant to human disease. Chromosome 14 congenic (WKY.SPGla14a), WKY, and SHRSP strains underwent cardiac phenotyping and transcriptome profiling at; 1-3 days (neonate), 5 weeks, and 16-weeks). Gene expression was assessed in the whole heart of 1-day neonate rats, and the LV of 5 and 16 week rats (N=3/strain) using the RatRef-12 v1.0 microarray chip (Illumina). Whole hearts from 1-day neonate animals were collected, weighted and snap frozen for RNA extraction. LV was snap frozen following dissection and weighting from 5 and 16 week rats. RNA was extracted from frozen heart/LV tissue using RNeasy kits according to the manufacturer’s protocol (Qiagen). Biotinylated amplified target cDNA was prepared and hybridised to the chip.</description><dates><publication>2026/08/27</publication></dates><accession>GSE344388</accession><cross_references><GSM>GSM9978234</GSM><GSM>GSM9978233</GSM><GSM>GSM9978214</GSM><GSM>GSM9978236</GSM><GSM>GSM9978235</GSM><GSM>GSM9978238</GSM><GSM>GSM9978216</GSM><GSM>GSM9978237</GSM><GSM>GSM9978215</GSM><GSM>GSM9978218</GSM><GSM>GSM9978217</GSM><GSM>GSM9978239</GSM><GSM>GSM9978219</GSM><GSM>GSM9978230</GSM><GSM>GSM9978232</GSM><GSM>GSM9978231</GSM><GSM>GSM9978245</GSM><GSM>GSM9978223</GSM><GSM>GSM9978244</GSM><GSM>GSM9978222</GSM><GSM>GSM9978225</GSM><GSM>GSM9978247</GSM><GSM>GSM9978224</GSM><GSM>GSM9978246</GSM><GSM>GSM9978227</GSM><GSM>GSM9978249</GSM><GSM>GSM9978248</GSM><GSM>GSM9978226</GSM><GSM>GSM9978229</GSM><GSM>GSM9978228</GSM><GSM>GSM9978241</GSM><GSM>GSM9978240</GSM><GSM>GSM9978243</GSM><GSM>GSM9978221</GSM><GSM>GSM9978242</GSM><GSM>GSM9978220</GSM><GPL>6101</GPL><GSE>344388</GSE><taxon>Rattus norvegicus</taxon></cross_references></HashMap>
