To date, systematic estimates of cellular protein concentrations have been exceptionally scarce. Here, we provide a quantitative description of the proteome of a commonly used human cell line in two functional states, interphase and mitosis. We show that these human cultured cells express at least -10 000 proteins and that the quantified proteins span a concentration range of seven orders of magnitude up to 20 000 000 copies per cell. We discuss how protein abundance is linked to function and evolution."],"pubmed_title":["The quantitative proteome of a human cell line."],"pubmed_authors":["Beck Martin M, Schmidt Alexander A, Malmstroem Johan J, Claassen Manfred M, Ori Alessandro A, Szymborska Anna A, Herzog Franz F, Rinner Oliver O, Ellenberg Jan J, Aebersold Ruedi R"],"pubmed_title_synonyms":["Human, count in organism, human being, Man (Taxonomy), Homo sapiens, Modern Man, Modern, Line, number, Cell Lines, total expressed protein, Cell., Proteomes, Man, presence, human, Cell, Lines"],"description_synonyms":["Peptidomics., Integral Membrane Proteins, dTAF[[II]]230, TAF[[II]]250, d230, gastric outlet obstruction, mol, CG4482, Proteins, Surface Proteins, l(2)35Bb, TAF200, Cell Surface, Th, nip, l(3)84Ab, Cell Surface Protein, dTAFII250, Membrane-Associated Proteins, BG:DS00004.13, Integral, TAFII-250, thomson, TAF250/230, EfW1, DmelCG4482, Cell, pyloric stenosis (disease), mass-to-charge ratio, dTAF230, dmTAF[[II]]230, GAS-6, TAFII250, l(2)br3, l35Bb, dmTAF1, Taf230, Membrane-Associated Protein, p230, Protein, Gm902, B1, Membrane Proteins, l(2)SH1330, TAF[[II]]250/230, TFIID, Mrs2l, Cell Surface Proteins, Membrane Associated Protein, l(2)br23, TAF250, Cell Membrane, Taf[[II]]250, AXL receptor tyrosine kinase ligand, Cell Membrane Protein, gastric outflow obstruction, Taf200, dTAF[[II]]250, TAF[[II]]230, TFIID TAF250, cel, cell, HPT, Surface, Membrane-Associated, 35Bb, Taf1p, Cell Membrane Proteins, TAF[II]250, Rpt, RPT, CG15268, Membrane, CG17603, TAF[[II]], l(2)SH2 1330, pyloric stenosis, br3, dTAF250, Integral Membrane Protein, GOO, DmelCG17603, Taf250, SR3-5, Surface Protein, Membrane Associated Proteins, NIP, BG:DS01219.1, TAF, Growth-potentiating factor, Membrane Protein, GPF, TAF230, Integral Membrane, TAF1"],"name_synonyms":["Rpt-1, YTA3, S7, l(2)05643, 1341, Dmp48B, NPH1, Trim30, l(2)43Ed, dRpt1, CG1341, RPT1., anon-WO0118547.90, NONPHOTOTROPIC HYPOCOTYL 1, DmelCG1341, JK224, phototropin 1, Rpt1/p48B, ROOT PHOTOTROPISM 1, CIM5, Dm_Rpt1, PHOTOTROPIN, F16L2.3, Rpt1, p48B"],"pubmed_abstract_synonyms":["d230, human being, P62, number, Goal, Phases, Gene, atado, dTAFII250, protein, sci, protein-containing complex, EfW1, presence, protrusion, Human, dmTAF[[II]]230, Mitotic M, Homo sapiens, dmTAF1, Taf230, Gene Products, Line, HOW, How, protein aggregate, Man, l(3)j5D5, Interphases, TAF250, 24B, Taf200, anatomical systems, M Phases, dTAF[[II]]250, Man (Taxonomy), l(3)s2612, TFIID TAF250, Biology, cel, cell, stru, Taf1p, l(3)S053606, CG12352, CG10293, dTAF250, l(3)j5B5, DmelCG12352, DmelCG10293, TAF, DmAAF34715, span, 0904/17, dTAF[[II]]230, TAF[[II]]250, anatomical protrusion, protein complex, clone 2.39, Modern, Proteins, Cell Lines, TAF200, total expressed protein, l(3)84Ab, BG:DS00004.13, TAFII-250, qkr, TAF250/230, l(3)S090417, Cell, dTAF230, count in organism, TAFII250, native protein, SZ1, mitosis, p230, KH93F, Systems, Protein, TAF[[II]]250/230, TFIID, Mitotic M Phase, resting phase, M Phase, Lines, who, Taf[[II]]250, Phase, Epistemology, TAF[[II]]230, Mitoses, function., TAF[II]250, Who/How, CG17603, TAF[[II]], karyostasis, human, Protein Gene Products, Gene Proteins, DmelCG17603, Taf250, spine, concentration, SR3-5, Modern Man, Mitotic M Phases, qkr[93F], anon-EST:Liang-2.39, Mitotic, Proteomes, TAF230, TAF1"],"additional_accession":[]},"is_claimable":false,"name":"YAGmem1220_rpt1","description":"enrichment for membrane proteins;  GPF 1200-2000 m/z; rpt=replicate; Goo et al., 2003, Mol Cell Proteomics 2(8):507","dates":{"publication":"2011-12-31","export":"2016-03-29"},"accession":"PAe000248","cross_references":{"pubmed":["22068332"],"taxonomy":["64091"]}}
