This understanding is supported by molecular evidence obtained through the sequencing of traditional mitochondrial and nuclear markers. For the first time, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) was used to identify numerous S. chrysophrii Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) and genotype specimens across a wide geographical area, allowing us to infer their genetic diversity and population structure. Our findings confirm that there is a substantial exchange of genes between monogeneans from wild and farmed fish at the national level. In other words, transmission occurs successfully between wild and farmed hosts, resulting in an indistinct genomic structure. Moreover, when all wild genotypes from the entire Mediterranean region were compared to all farmed genotypes, the genomic structure remained inconclusive, indicating a homogenous distribution of S. chrysophrii."],"repository":["ENA"],"additional_accession":[]},"is_claimable":false,"name":"","description":"Mediterranean-wide transfer of the monogenean Sparicotyle chrysophrii between wild and farmed gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) inferred by ddRAD loci","dates":{"last_updated":"2024-05-11","first_public":"2024-05-11"},"accession":"PRJNA1038783","cross_references":{}}
