After systematic enzyme-directed evolution and gene editing, the most robust strain EcN@5-HTP with a yield of 387.1 mg/L 5-HTP is obtained. When used as a live therapeutic, EcN@5-HTP exhibits strong antidepressant efficacy in mice, and the underlying mechanisms involve improving the 5-HT levels in the gut and brain, repairing neurological abnormalities, suppressing inflammation, elevating SCFAs concentrations, and modulating gut microbiota dysbiosis.</long_description><repository>ENA</repository><description_synonyms>3.4.22.-, digestive canal, Microbial Community Composition, Community Composition, Bowel, Laboratory, Mus domesticus, mouse, enteric tract, mini-ICE, CASP-14, Microbial, House Mouse, Human, 17beta)-17-hydroxyestrane-3-carbonitrile., gut tube, Gus, Gur, Gut, House, Mus, Mini-ICE, Mus musculus domesticus, 5alpha, Mice, alimentary canal, Microbial Communities, Microbiome, Mus musculus, AI747421, (3beta, gut, Microbiomes, Caspase-14 subunit p10, Microbial Community Compositions, Microbial Community, Swiss, mice, Microbial Community Structure, Swiss Mouse, Gus-u, alimentary tract, Community Structure, Gus-t, Gus-s, Gus-r, House Mice, Swiss Mice, Caspase-14 subunit p19, MICE, Laboratory Mice, domesticus, Composition, g, gastrointestinal system, Microbial Community Structures, ECN, digestive tube, Microbiotas, asd, Mouse, adult alimentary canal, alimentary system, Laboratory Mouse, intestines, Human Microbiomes, Community, Human Microbiome</description_synonyms></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name></name><description>Gut microbial community in depressed mice treated with engineered EcN</description><dates><last_updated>2024-07-31</last_updated><first_public>2024-07-31</first_public></dates><accession>PRJNA1141713</accession><cross_references/></HashMap>
