The resultant Lin- population was fractionated into four distinct subpopulations using CD49f (α6-integrin) and epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM also referred to as CD326 and ESA). Based on the immunohistochemical phenotype, and in vivo and in vitro functional assays, these subpopulations were identified as fibroblast-enriched stromal (CD49f -EpCAM-), mammary stem cell (MaSC)-enriched (CD49f hiEpCAM-), luminal progenitor (CD49f +EpCAM+), and mature luminal (CD49f –EpCAM+) cell subpopulations. Microarray profiling was used to derive gene expression signatures representative of these subpopulations using freshly sorted cells (>90% purity) from normal breast tissue. The four mammary cell subpopulations were found to have distinct gene expression profiles. Overall design: Four mammary cell subpopulations from three individual patient samples were analyzed.</long_description><tag>xref:PubMed:19648928</tag><repository>ENA</repository><description_synonyms>Epithelial Specific, EpCAM, d230, human being, EGP40, Gene, dTAFII250, LACS 1, gp40, Tacsd1, EfW1, Human, Epithelial Specific Antigen, dmTAF[[II]]230, EGP314, Facl2, M4S1, 5033401O05Rik, Homo sapiens, KS1/4, dmTAF1, Taf230, Antigen, foetal AEDS, Man, CD326 Protein, TAF250, GA733 Tumor-Associated Antigen, average, Taf200, dTAF[[II]]250, Gene Expressions, Man (Taxonomy), TFIID TAF250, TACSTD1, cel, FACS, cell, GA 733 Tumor-Associated Antigen, CD49f, ESA, Tumor Associated Antigen GA733, Ep-CAM, Taf1p, Expressions, Tacstd1, LACS1, dTAF250, Ly74, fetal antiepileptic drug syndrome, Acs, Expression, Egp314, ESA Antigen, TAF, CD326, Integrin alpha-6 heavy chain, Acas1, ITGA6B, dTAF[[II]]230, TAF[[II]]250, KS1|4, tacstd1, epcam, CD49 antigen-like family member F, Modern, GA733 Antigen, CD326 Antigen, GA 733 Tumor Associated Antigen, TAF200, l(3)84Ab, Integrin alpha-6 light chain, BG:DS00004.13, TAFII-250, TAF250/230, Cell, DIAR5, dTAF230, Alpha6p, TAFII250, EpCAM1, p230, Processed integrin alpha-6, EGP-2., TAF[[II]]250/230, TFIID, AI115430, GA733, Cd49f, Taf[[II]]250, HNPCC8, GA733-2, TAF[[II]]230, Tumor-Associated Antigen GA733, foetal antiepileptic drug syndrome, MIC18, TAF[II]250, Tumor-Associated Antigen, KSA, CG17603, TAF[[II]], FAC sorting, human, M1S2, DmelCG17603, GA733 Tumor Associated Antigen, MK-1, fetal AEDS, Taf250, SR3-5, Acas, VLA-6, Modern Man, EGP, TROP1, Tacstd1 Protein, TAF230, TAF1</description_synonyms><name_synonyms>Human, Modern., human being, Man (Taxonomy), Homo sapiens, man, Man, human, Modern Man</name_synonyms></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>Homo sapiens</name><description>Gene expression profiles of normal human mammary cell subpopulations FACS sorted based on expression of CD49f and EpCAM</description><dates><last_updated>2025-09-24</last_updated><first_public>2014-02-11</first_public></dates><accession>PRJNA117321</accession><cross_references><GEO>GSE16997</GEO><taxon>9606</taxon><PubMed>19648928</PubMed></cross_references></HashMap>
